I have loved music for as long as I can remember. When I was fifteen, I taught myself how to play guitar. In the years that followed I practised my skills as a guitar and bass player in bands, mostly playing cover tunes. However, slowly but surely I discovered that writing my own songs, and recording them, was what really fascinated me.
With no musical training whatsoever I started to fiddle around with guitars, keyboards, drum machines, microphones and multi track recorders, taking full advantage of not knowing how my instruments worked. That taught me how to work out the idea in my head, rather than relying on music theory when composing.
Today my musical knowledge is still very limited, which leaves me no other choice than to remain wirting songs by heart. Trying to capture the thoughts and feelings that accompany the defining moments of our lives.
