These ain’t my first words that are sad and blue, but what little did I know.
I know better after loving you and after having seen you go.

Every sad song that I wrote makes perfect sense to me, never having understood those words before.
When I read between the lines I find out what’s to be, but I wouldn’t change a single thing I did. 

Now putting pen to paper isn’t quite the same, confiding all my notions to a song.
As long as I am straight there is no sense of shame, there will not be a word that comes out wrong.
